ArtesisMCM, the intelligent monitoring unit, is also available as part of an Ascenix system solution. A typical Ascenix implemented Model Based Fault Detection system will comprise of the following components:
Monitoring Center Diagnostic Software A typical implemention generally involves 50+ motors to be watched from one Monitoring Center. The graphical user interface and the diagnostic capabilities resides in the Monitoring Center, although the model based assessments are done at the motor level and transmitted to the Monitoring Center. Certain aspects of motor condition information (fault severity, certain readings, etc.) can also be integrated into a plant's existing monitoring and control system.
The software products involved at the Monitoring Center level are: - MCMScada - Artesis Enterprise Server
Monitoring Units These are not mere data collection units. They process much of the information coming through the motors. In fact, the model based fault detection algorithms run in these units, generate fault severity indications on their own display, thus create added alarm visibility at the motor control room, or nearby the motor they monitor. The processing capability at the motor level also facilitates the networking of many MCMs together, as the data transmission requirements reduces significantly.
The products at this level are: - MCM Line and MCM Inverter - PCM - for Generators
Current and Voltage Sensors
Voltage and current sensors are important parts of the installation. They vary by voltage and current ratings of the motors. The common types of current transformers that can be used, include hall effect sensors, split core and window type transformers. The voltage transformers are essential for medium and high voltage applications.
Communication and Wiring Components
Ethernet switches, RS232/RS 485 converters, RS232 and RS485 communication cables are some of the essential components of any installed system.
